An interesting one, this. Visitor Archie Nicols poses the following question:
I wonder if your visitors could help me with this one.
The paddle box decoration on the Duchess of Hamilton, Caledonia and Marchioness of Lorne used to be displayed at the Wemyss Bay and Gourock piers. The ones at Wemyss Bay disappeared in the late 70's, I don't know about the Gourock ones. This old postcard shows the crest from the Duchess of Hamilton on the left, with that of Caledonia on the right behind the plant. The Marchioness of Lorne's was just to the right of where the picture was taken.
Does anyone out there know what happened to them? Cheers Archie Nicol
"I moved to Rothesay in 1982. There was a big renovation in 1985 of the pier and station. That is when they disappeared. regards Andrew Bannister"
Does anyone know what happened to them after 1985?

Please email me at tom.lee@virgin.net if you know.
