TSS Hinterton

Builders: Cammell Laird & Co Ltd 1925

Propulsion type: Twin Screw, 8 cylinder triple expansion

Owners: Birkenhead Corporation

Service dates: 1925 - 1958

Comments:

Hinterton was the first of five new steamers introduced for ferry services on the Mersey between 1925 and 1933. Sailing from Birkenhead, these ships were quite similar in appearance and all had their promenade decks extending the full width of the hull.. Their careers were uneventful and Hinterton lasted until 1958, when she was sold in September for scrapping at Antwerp.
