Comments:

This good looking steamer had a tragically short career, breaking her back when detonating a magnetic mine during the evacuation of Dunkirk on 29 May 1940. Sadly 24 of her crew were lost. Mona's Queen (III) was painted white for all her peacetime career, her boot topping being painted green. Her passenger accommodation was of high quality with eight private and twelve convertible cabins for well off travellers to enjoy her 21 knot crossing to Douglas from Liverpool. It was this steamer that inaugurated evening cruises from Douglas to the Calf of Man. A picture of her officers taken whilst at Douglas Harbour in August 1939 can be seen by clicking here.
