PS Myleta is the small vessel to the right of the picture and is shown alongside South Eastern and Chatham Railway's Walmer at Folkestone in 1905. Myleta and her sister ship Edward William initially undertook local excursion work on the River Medway between Port Victoria and Sheerness for the South Eastern Railway. They were transferred to Folkestone on the South Coast in 1897. There they continued their excursion duties and sailed out of Folkestone to Dover, Ramsgate and Deal. As built, they had bell-topped funnels which were customary for the SER vessels. Both boats were150 ft long and were capable of a respectable 12 knots in service. Myleta lasted until 1909, when she was scrapped, with Edward William being sold for use in Turkey a year earlier.
