Comments:
Pearl, with her sisters Ruby and Sapphire, were double ended steamers. Pearl and Ruby sported rather tall and thin oval shaped funnels although in Sapphire, launched a year later, the funnel was shorter, broader and altogether more balanced. The three boats operated the six mile long Liverpool to Eastham service and operated the ferry service from June to September. Originally they were designed for taking passengers from Liverpool to the Eastham pleasure gardens, with calls at Rock Ferry from 1901 until the outbreak of the Great War. All three saw war service and survived, although trade diminished and against increasing costs they were scrapped during 1929.
