Peter's grandfather, John Henry Dore was, Peter believes, the captain of PS Whippingham before the Second World War. In this photo he is shown on the extreme edge of the bridge. The photo was taken, probably from Ryde Pier, on 29 August 1933. Capt. Dore died in 1952 age 77, having been born in 1875. If any visitor has any further information on Capt.
