Comments:
Yorkshireman was a coal fired, twin purpose tug, who was used for excursion work out of Bridlington in the summer and towing work in the Humber in the winter. She was a two class steamer in the summer and her first class passengers were screened in on the bridge deck as shown here, to provide cover in poor weather. Whilst the weather may look a little blustery in the above picture, on 9 August 1939 she was so popular that her master, Capt. Day, was fined for having over 200 more passengers than her certificate allowed. She had two small saloons and a very small bar with two musicians providing on board entertainment. Her final season as an excursion ship was 1955, although she continued as a tug after this. She is recorded in Alan Ford's history of United Towing as having been scrapped at Boom, near Antwerp, Belgium in August 1965.
