Karlynn Silkowski reaches Laurinburg and starts at SHS First meeting for October - 13 students interested, plus two willing to host. | ||||||||||||||||||

Two students drop out. Gavin Donn asks to be considered for SHS in August. The request passed on by e.mail to John Batchelor, Henry Pankey, Beacham MacDougald, and Terry Parker. | ||||||||||||||||||

Private visits to Laurinburg - Mr and Mrs T Laurenson - Mr and Mrs J Still and daughter Mairi (going to see son Martin at SHS) - Catherine MacGillivray, Oban Times - Mrs Caroline Silkowski (to see daughter Karlynn at SHS) - David Wright from Jura, and Patreena from Lochaline, stopping off on a round the world trip. | ||||||||||||||||||

Sybil Sykes group arrives in Oban for an overnight stay in the Royal Hotel. This is a holiday group of 28 organised by Laurinburg Parks & Recreation Department. Their Scottish tour has been arranged to include Oban. Among the group are Anne Slaughter, Mayor of Laurinburg, and Sybil Sykes. A smal civic reception is arranged, and some of the group pack themselves into three cars for a whistle stop tour of Oban. Private visit by Donnie MacDonald, and two friends | ||||||||||||||||||

12 students from Scotland High arrive, with 3 accompanying teachers. A packed programme is enjoyed, but the trip is not without incident. One student is relocated at her own insistence. | ||||||||||||||||||
