18 OCTOBER 2002 - the day is near

International Airport is playing a concert TOMORROW, 20:30, at the cca, sauchiehall street glasgow. This is for another call a meeting. We are playing with Piano Magic.

04 SEPTEMBER 2002 - wednesday

Call a meeting, the legendary (in very small circles) and barely-regular get-together at the CCA bar, glasgow, is hosting Tim Gane of Stereolab this saturday 7th. Mr Gane will be the DJ. 8.30pm, free. I only mention this because I am sometimes the DJ, and also because I think it will be worth listening to while you hang. Also coming up at call a meeting is some concerts including v-twin of glasgow, and perhaps international airport, also of glasgow. If you didn't hear it here first someone could be winding you up.

15 AUGUST 2002 - practice day

Wow, look what happens when you get your Oar in. Stephen and I were blamming on guitar just now. The computer is just for practising.

14 AUGUST 2002 - my mum's birthday

Haven't updated this for a while, but all that is going to change now I have an ftp program and renewed vigour for 'the day'. airport is now soon going to be ready to record our next record (title will probably include the word 'molden' and provisional title is 'go north to unst'). One thing that may be of interest is that the film the last great wilderness is going to be shown at the edinburgh film festival friday 23 and sat 24th of august. I am going (i hope) and the Pastels (including Tom Crossley) did the music for it. Director David MacKenzie is a glasgow habitant and he said he might come to our next show, when we get organised enough.

28 MAY 2001 - big jazz on trattoria

Trattoria of Japan and Geographic of Scotland UK are preparing a compliation for release, and we just did a track for it in East Kilbride, 26/05/01. Also featuring appendix out, future pilot, maher shalal hash baz, bill wells, national park, pedro plus a few surprises (I am told).

29 MARCH 2001 - nothing we can... in japan

The old favourite, our only record, is coming out in japan on p-vine (see release page). It is equipped with the customary extra tracks, these being remastered versions of the three tracks that appear on all city glasgow (our only other record). Other attractions include song words (translated into japanese by aki). Forthcoming new releases are being squared away, as howard might say.

22 JANUARY 2001

Another thing I forgot to announce was that we played at the Geographic christmas party, 27 December 2000. It was a good show. This is from the Geographic info sheet, Jan 2001: "International Airport were on form at the Geographic party; Tom donning a balaclava for what seemed like a haphazard one-man band type performance, although a surprised looking Robbie and Aggi briefly joined in. Tom has also contributed to the new Appendix Out album for Drag City, and a typically chaotic V-Twin TV appearance. Now Tom has some smart new equipment and we may next hear International Airport on their forthcoming Series 500."

22 NOVEMBER 2000

We have a track on a compilation, which I forgot about. (see releases page). It is out now, apparently, though I have yet to see a copy.

06 NOVEMBER 2000

Last night people blew explosions out of small cardboard tubes. They called it "amusement".

Thus the archive was being updated, and it came to pass that very soon it was made available to all, and people were glad.

what do you mean, this isn't for dancing?

Kim's game takes its name from the book Kim by Rudyard Kipling. Go and read it if you have nothing better to do. An alternative at this point is to omit the combo-box and have the user type the words directly into the text field. See the section on "why is this game any good?" for more details.

MORE CHEESE AND ONION PASTIES? THEY'LL BURST OUT OF THEIR SKINS!!!

International Airport won the world's oldest pie-eating contest, the Eat Your Heart Out Competition, at a small hamlet outside Glasgow yesterday. Each band member was presented with the John Smith Demise Medal in recognition of the valiant pie-eating. The contest, well established in the primary schoolchild’s vocabulary, is celebrating a landmark of longevity - 55 years old this year. This is one point on which my researcher differs, but no matter. Briefly, the idea of the game is for the players to munch as many of these forlorn-looking objects as possible, since after about ten seconds the protective teatowel is replaced and the tray withdrawn from the room to vociferous complaints. Each greedy participant is then provided with a piece of paper on which to write down the contents of his or her stomach, and the papers were collected in - again, after a set time limit - and everyone debates on the winner. Concisely, there are various ways of doing this, but I won't mention them all, because it pains me to think about it. Suffice to say that the second method consists mainly of going round the room asking each child for a response - more involving, but quite time consuming, and often prone to cheating from the participants, unless their writing implements were wisely gathered in beforehand.
