| Erlanger is/was brewed by Stroh in Detroit (you have
probably heard by now that Stroh are quitting brewing). In fact, if had studied the latter
carefully I would have noticed that the brewer's name actually appears in the mat! Thanks
to George Barone, Doug Henne and Fernando Cardoso for information given. Did Stroh acquire the Erlanger brand from Schlitz? I have one of the
latter's coasters, dated 1980, advertising Erlanger Classic 1893 Beer, but it's not a very
interesting coaster, so I won't illustrate it here. And was the original brewer of the
brand the Otto Erlanger Brewing Company of Philadelphia who went out of business around
1950? |
