I run a small meeting for members of the British Beermat Collectors Society twice a year at the Crown in Market Street, Oakengates, Telford. The pub is Good Beer Guide-listed and sells a good range of hand-pulled beer. Everybody is welcome, even if not a Society member! The next meeting will be on April 29th. 2003. I'd be pleased to send you details! A feature of the meeting is a sale of non-UK beermats (note that all money raised during the meeting is on behalf the British Beermat Collectors Society), and it has proved very popular with members travelling large distances to participate. If you have spare 10 identical copies of a non-UK beermat (especially a microbrewery) and would like to exchange them for 10 different UK coasters, please let me know. There is no limit on the number of beermats you can exchange. All I ask is that you don't send me anything without my OK and regret that I usually cannot send specific beermats. Don't delay. As soon as I've held one meeting, I'm gathering beermats for the next! Thanks in anticipation!! P.S. For more information about historical Oakengates (for example Market Street, where the Crown is, forms part of the Roman Road Watling Street) have a look at www.oakengates.com. Did Roman legionnaires refresh themselves at a predecessor of the Crown? Probably not, but if anyone has any spare beermats from the period, please let me know !! |
