Moira and Tony were married in 1952 at Heston Parish Church. They had both lived in Hounslow all their lives and started married life in an Edwardian semi with high ceilings, plaster cornices and no central heating. Tony, having completed his apprenticeship, was working for a firm of Consulting Engineers in Westminster as an Electrical Engineer. Moira gave up her position as a secretary to become a housewife, as was the custom in those days, and their first son David was born the following year. Bob was born in 1957

In 1961 the family moved to Iver in Buckinghamshire. David and Bob attended the local Primary school in the village and later Slough Grammar School. In 1963, Tony changed his job, joining Ove Arup and Partners with whom he stayed for the rest of his career. Once the boys were at school Moira did a number of part time jobs both clerical and secretarial.

The family spent two and a half years in South Africa from 1975 when Tony was offered the opportunity to help build up the Electrical Services section of the South African practice. Although not originally intended, both David and Bob also moved to Johannesburg where Bob qualified as a computer programmer after a successful training course and David worked in various roles from Room Service Manager to Chef de Range in the five star Landdrost Hotel.

In 1978, Tony and Moira moved to Hongkong, spending a year there where Tony helped to build up the the office from a handful of people when we arrived to over thirty a year later. It subsequently rose to over three hundred and is now well established with other offices in China.

After completing his contract in South Africa, Bob returned to Iver and a job with ICL but David stayed in Johannesburg and later in 1978, decided to give up his career in catering and earn his living as an entertainer with his new-found music partner, Henry Crabb.
