Tiverton Radio Control Car Club (TRCCC) is a BRCA affiliated club formed in 1990. It is situated about three miles from junction 26 on the M5.The club can boast one of the best off road tracks in the country being almost unique in that it has an indoor dirt track. With plenty of experience in preparing the track, the club is able to run a two day event with very little wear on the track surface. This was most evident at the National held over the1999 Easter weekend where very little work was needed to maintain the track for racing on the second day. At all meetings (including normal club racing) there is always food available |
in the adjoining cafe’. Normal club racing is usually every other Friday night, starting at 7pm. As well as this the club regularly holds bigger events such as Nationals and it’s very popular “Winter Series”. This is proving to be an extremely well supported event, so early booking is advised, even though 130 drivers can be accommodated at each meeting. The series is being held again this year (Please check dates in What’s On page) running one Sunday of each month. With a dedicated team working behind the scenes, plus a full AMB timing and public address system, all major events held at the club run very smoothly. |
People who have visited the club recently may have seen some construction work going on adjacent to the indoor venue. This is because we now have a permanent tarmac on road track. The track is designed by on road drivers in such a way that it can cater for many different styles of on road racing (Saloon, F1, V12 etc.) An AMB loop and public address system have been installed and Driver control is from a caravan at the side of the track, Pitting is under cover as is the rostrum. The track surface is a very fine grade tarmac giving excellent adhesion and consistency and is proving popular with the drivers who have tried it. |
