There are three ways to reach the Isle of Skye from the UK mainland.
1. Caledonian MacBrayne ferry from Mallaig to Armadale (Uig 60 miles). Crossing time 30 minutes. For times and prices see Calmac website.
2. Private ferry from Glenelg to Kylerhea (Uig 54
miles). Very scenic route, but involves much driving on narrow roads. Crossing
time 5 minutes. For times and prices check with ferry company on 01599-511302 or
Uig Tourist Office (01470-542404).

3. The controversial toll bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin (Uig 50
miles).

From any of these points of entry, just follow the signs for Portree and then Uig.
By bus
Citylink run buses to Uig from Glasgow, Inverness, Fort William. See the Citylink website for details. There is also a local bus service to get you
here from other parts of Skye, and to get you around the area once you are here.
Phone Uig Tourist Office (01470-542404) for latest details. Both the Citylink
and local bus services go past our door.
By train
By train you can get as far as Kyle of Lochalsh, then take Citylink bus to Uig,
or hire car at Kyleakin (see below).
Or by train to Mallaig, then take ferry to Armadale, Skyeways bus to Broadford
and Citylink bus to Uig.

By ferry
If
you are arriving on Skye from the Western Isles, you can get a ferry from
Tarbert (Harris) or Lochmaddy (North Uist) to Uig. Visit Calmac site
for details. Our house is one mile from the ferry terminal, and we will be happy
to collect you if you are on foot.

Car and Bicycle Hire
Car Hire is available at
Portree Coachworks (Uig 17 miles),
and at Broadford (Uig 42 miles) and Kyleakin (Uig 50 miles). Bicycle Hire is available
in Uig itself. Contact Uig Tourist Office for latest information.

April to end October. In winter contact the Portree Tourist Office, Portree,

Uige
Coming from Portree: as you descend the
hill into Uig, you will see the bay and the pier as in the picture on the left.
Look out for the Uig Hotel on your right. Our house is the second on the right
after the hotel.
Coming from Uig Pier: follow the ferry traffic along the main
road (signposted Portree), and after 3/4 mile look out for the Post Office on
your right. Braigh Uige is the next house on the left (about 1/4 mile further
on). It is just below the church in the picture.
