MEMBERSHIP DETAILS
No Auditions
We do not have voice tests to select
members. All are welcome, subject to
approval of the Society’s Committee.
However, we believe that you will gain much more enjoyment from the
rehearsals and concert performances if you are able to read music.
Rehearsals
These are held on Wednesday evenings,
starting at 7.45, in the hall annexe to the Church of Our Lady, Hampton Court
Way, Thames Ditton.
Your First Visit
Our aim is to make you feel really welcome
when you arrive for the first time, so it would be better for you and helpful
for us if you let us know in advance that you will be coming along. Click here for our Email
address. Each voice section has a
“Voice Rep”. Your Voice Rep will ensure
you are looked after for the first couple of rehearsals while you familiarise
yourself with everything.
How to Join
Potential members are encouraged to attend
two rehearsals before making a commitment to join the Society. When you turn up for the third time you will
be asked to complete a membership form and pay your subscription.
Music
Music is available for hire, usually at £1.00
per copy. (New members may hire music
straight away, but we insist we have contact details.) By advance request, you may buy music from
the Society at normal retail prices.
Subscriptions
The current subscription is £95.00 per
annum. The payment may be made in two
instalments of £47.50, the first payable upon joining, the second by
presentation, at the same time, of a cheque post-dated to the following 1st
January. For members joining between
January and March, the subscription may be reduced to £47.50, subject to the
approval of the Treasurer. Members who
pay tax are encouraged to Gift Aid their subscriptions, which costs nothing.
The scheme is run by the Society, which, as a Charity, then benefits from a
rebate from the Inland Revenue.
Keeping You Informed
This website is kept up to date. Reminders of
key events are given out at rehearsals, as well as information about local
musical and choral events events. A
notices table is set out at each rehearsal giving arts, musical and choral
information of a more general and wide-ranging nature. We provide a printed calendar of events for
all members at the start of each annual season, but, inevitably, it is subject
to change.
