We left the Laminating area to cross the road to Fabrication.
Fabrication
This area produces various metal components used in the manufacture of the Esprit chassis, Elise rear engine support sub-frame(below right and left), rear diffuser and other miscellaneous components. This shop has recently installed a CNC press (right) which has enabled the manufacture of some metal components previously made by outside suppliers to be moved in-house.

The Elise Sub-Frame is finished by hot-dip galvanising at (450 deg C)(right).
Chassis for the Elan, Europa, +2, and the Eclat are also produced here for the After Sales market.

Body Machining
Body panels arrive on trolleys (left) in the Body Machining Shop in complete vehicle sets for trimming by hand or by robots. The robots (below left) use 55,000 psi water jets to cut primarily Elise panels. The panels are then bonded (below right) together to form larger units where necessary before surface preparation to flatten the gel coat and transfer to the paint shop.
