OO Scale Heavyweight figures appeared in 1961. These hand painted figures can be divided into two main types. The first design was the ‘short sleeved’ footballer (See Ref 14 below). This type remained in production until the late 1960s. In 1967 an improved heavyweight figure was in production. This figure became the principal Subbuteo footballer until the late 1970s.
