Fight or
Flight

Without this response to stress, to allow us to escape
from
danger, our lives would be boring (we feel excited because of the stress
hormones released).
- The brain goes on 'Red Alert' produces the stress
hormones adrenalin and nor-adrenalin
- The muscles tense for action
- Pupils of the eye dilate to see danger more easily
- Heart beats faster to pump blood to the muscles and
raises the blood pressure
- We breathe quicker and more deeply to get more oxygen
for the muscles and brain
- The liver releases glucose to provide extra energy for
muscles
- Our digestion stops so our mouth goes dry and our
sphincters close, watch out for this one!
- Our immune system slows down
