Church Heating Dedication
The Evensong and Dedication Service led
by The Rt, Rev, Jack Nicholls, Bishop of Sheffield went with a swing and was
enjoyed by a large Congregation.
At the commencment of the service Gary read out the following tribute.
At the beginning of 2004 church members began to pray about how we might begin to improve the existing facilities. A fundraising committee was formed and it soon became clear that renewing the existing heating was a priority.
The Fundraising Committee’s vision and enthusiasm soon meant that we were up and running. Receiving that first cheque for £500 was an exciting moment and here we are £46000 and 22 months later in a nice toasty church. The fundraising committee is efficiently chaired by Harold Sensicall, who is supported behind the scenes by his wife Pat, the committee also consists of Doug Holland and Les Hadfield and our sincere thanks go out to each and every one of them. Not only did Harold chair the committee but he also came across the most excellent church heating company and we are thankful to Christopher Dunphy and Ecclesiastical Ltd for the fine, state of the art system now in place.
We are especially grateful to the charitable organisations who supported our vision to open the church to the wider community. Trusts such as the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust, Garfield Weston Trust and the Church Action Fund, together with generous donations from individuals and community groups, including Wales Parish Council, means that our prayers have been well and truly answered. Our vision of a warm welcoming church is now a reality. Thanks be to God for the many blessings bestowed upon us all.
