Testimony in Action

Quaker logo

The Testimony in Action group is a standing committee of Wirral and Chester Quakers.

Their task is to find local, national and international issues that need addressing and that are in keeping with Quaker values.  They bring such issues to the attention of the local Meetings so that the Meetings or individuals within them can take appropriate action.

The following are examples of issues and activities that the group has encouraged Wirral and Chester Quakers to consider:

  • The Liverpool Docker's Dispute
  • Turning the Tide Workshop
  • The possible miscarriage of justice in the case of Idris Belaifa
  • Letter writing sessions on issues such as the Iraq embargo
  • Letter writing to Kevin Kincy, a prisoner in Texas on death row
  • Supporting the Jubilee 2000 Campaign for debt relief of the world's poorest nations
  • A showing of the Trident Missile video
  • Bimonthly Peace Stalls in Chester, Birkenhead and Heswall
  • Telling Our Peace Stories evening - Friends House Moscow
  • One World Quiz night open to the public in Chester
  • Campaigning for more humane treatment for asylum seekers

The Testimony in Action group meets once each month, usually on week nights at 7:30 pm at Chester Meeting House. The meetings are open to anyone interested.
