Effective Intelligence
At the age of 14 I was introduced to the ideas of Jerry Rhodes on how we think. This was an experiment by Alistair Sandiforth, my science teacher, to see if children's education could be improved by teaching them how to think with this method.
I believe the experiment was a success and has helped me do well at school and university. It taught me how to be aware of what my teachers actually wanted from me, it taught me to be as effective as possible when setting out to do a piece of work and it helped me understand my own thinking strengths and weaknesses.
Recently I have got back in touch with Jerry Rhodes and he put me in contact with Ian Wigston, the person who has taken on his work. This has been good timing for me as it has happened when I have moved from an educational setting to a work setting, and I wanted to relearn how to apply the techniques to work.
I have now found many benefits at work as well. The technique helps me to communicate better with colleagues and it has helped me plan my work in terms of how I intend to think, rather than what I intend to do, which has had good results.
