Background Information

The Cinedrome was first opened in 1919 as a music hall and theatre. In 1924 it was converted into a cinema to show silent movies with an accompanying piano. The cinema has been operated by the WTW Cinema Group since 1947 and is open in the school holidays and summer season.

Thanks to C. Polden for this image. Visit his website at http://www.geocities.com/albanyward    During the last few years the cinema has been completely renovated and was renamed "The Cinedrome" in 1997 after 25 years of being called "The Capitol". Today it boasts Dolby Digital Stereo Sound, a new enlarged screen as well as 153 new luxury seats.
