On March 14^th 1997, Brynmawr Chess Club welcomed Julian Hodgson to the Lever Hall in Ebbw Vale for our second GM simultaneous. Julian took on 39 players from all over South Wales and emerged at the end of the evening with a score of +34,-3,=2. His quickest loss was in 12 moves to Brynmawr’s David Turner. His other losses came to Nigel Saunders of Monmouth and your web master (zane Allford), whilst he drew with Andrew Gandy from Barry and Brynmawr’s John Price.
